Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a positive note, while Nifty Smallcap underperforms!

In Tuesday's trading session, benchmark indices concluded the day with the Sensex and Nifty closing higher by 0.42 per cent and 0.45 per cent, respectively.

Market Update at 3:45 PM: In Tuesday's trading session, benchmark indices concluded the day with the Sensex and Nifty closing higher by 0.42 per cent and 0.45 per cent, respectively. However, broader indices exhibited a mixed performance, with Nifty Midcap closing higher by 0.06 per cent and Nifty Smallcap closing lower by 0.11 per cent.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, saw a surge of 0.7 per cent, reflecting a minor increase in market volatility.

Notable sectoral movements highlight Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty, and Nifty Media as the top gainers, while Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty FMCG, and Nifty IT are among the top losers.

Leading the gainers among individual stocks are SBI Life, HDFC Life, and Adani Enterprises, while Coal India, ONGC, and BPCL find themselves among the top losing stocks within the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment remains positive, with around 1086 advancing stocks compared to 928 declining stocks, indicating an optimistic trend in the broader market.

Market Update at 2:20 PM: In the ongoing trading session, the Sensex and Nifty have registered gains of 0.45 per cent and 0.49 per cent, respectively. Similarly, Nifty Midcap is trading higher by 0.1 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap is showing a modest decline of 0.09 per cent.

India VIX has surged by 1.42 per cent, signalling an increase in market volatility.

Notable sectoral movements highlight Nifty Media, Nifty Metal, and Nifty Realty as the top gainers, while Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty FMCG are among the top losers.

Adani Enterprises, SBI Life, and HDFC Life lead the gainers among individual stocks, while Coal India, ONGC, and BPCL find themselves among the top losers within the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment remains positive, with around 1183 advancing stocks compared to 824 declining stocks, indicating an optimistic trend in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 12:35 PM: In the ongoing trading session, the Sensex and Nifty have posted gains of 0.6 per cent and 0.62 per cent, respectively. Similarly, Nifty Midcap is trading marginally higher by 0.23 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap is showing a slight decline of 0.05 per cent.

India VIX has seen a marginal increase of 0.93 per cent, indicating a slight uptick in market volatility.

European markets are poised for a flat to higher open on Tuesday as sentiment wavers with a slowdown in third-quarter earnings reports. European futures, including DAX, CAC, and FTSE, are trading higher by 0.13 per cent, 0.01 per cent, and 0.03 per cent, respectively.

The broader market sentiment remains positive, with approximately 1256 advancing stocks compared to 730 declining stocks, signalling an optimistic trend in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 9:35 AM: In Tuesday's trading session, the Sensex and Nifty initiated with gains of 0.42 per cent and 0.43 per cent, respectively. Simultaneously, Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap also opened higher by 0.35 per cent and 0.3 per cent, showcasing a positive market sentiment.

India VIX witnessed a decline of 0.68 per cent, suggesting a minor reduction in market volatility.

Notable sectoral movements include Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty, and Nifty Media leading the gainers, while Nifty FMCG stands as the sole major sector underperforming.

Top gainers in individual stocks comprise Hindalco, Adani Enterprises, and JSW Steel, whereas Coal India, ONGC, and Britannia find themselves among the top losers within the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment remains positive, with around 1512 advancing stocks compared to 380 declining stocks, indicating an overall optimistic trend in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 8:05 AM: US Stock futures hovered near the flat line on Monday evening. Futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 7 points, or 0.02 per cent. S&P 500 futures saw a gain of 0.05 per cent, while Nasdaq 100 futures rose by 0.1 per cent.

During the regular trading session, the Dow closed Monday with an increase of over 200 points, or approximately 0.6 per cent. The S&P 500 posted a gain of 0.7 per cent, and the Nasdaq Composite surged by 1.1 per cent, marking the fifth consecutive positive day for these two indexes. Additionally, the Nasdaq 100 rose by about 1.2 per cent, reaching a 22-month high earlier in the day.

The GIFT Nifty signals a slightly optimistic beginning for the benchmark indices, showing an increase of 7 points. GIFT Nifty futures reached 19,815 points after reaching a peak of 19,829 points.

Oil futures surged by over 2 per cent on Monday, extending their gains on the possibility of OPEC+ implementing deeper supply cuts to stabilize prices. This comes after four weeks of declining prices due to concerns over demand and disruptions in Middle East supply arising from the Israel-Hamas conflict.

The Brent crude contract for January experienced a significant increase of USD 2.12, equivalent to 2.63 per cent, reaching USD 82.73 per barrel. In the futures market, the Dollar index traded 0.06 per cent lower at 103.52, while the value of one dollar remained close to Rs 83.37.

On November 20, 2023, foreign institutional investors (FII) offloaded shares worth Rs 645.72 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 77.77 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on November 21, 2023, are BHEL, CHAMBLFERT, DELTACORP, HINDCOPPER, IBULHSGFIN, INDIACEM, MANAPPURAM, MCX, NMDC, RBLBANK and ZEEL.
