Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a positive note amidst a decline in volatility!

On Wednesday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a positive note as Sensex moderately gained by 0.12 per cent closing at 72,101.69 level, while Nifty also gained by 0.16 per cent and closed at 21,839.10 level.

Market Update at 3:40 PM: On Wednesday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a positive note as Sensex moderately gained by 0.12 per cent closing at 72,101.69 level, while Nifty also gained by 0.16 per cent and closed at 21,839.10 level. Similarly, the Broader market experienced marginal gains as Nifty Midcap closed higher by 0.09 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap surged by 0.12 per cent.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, has declined by 4.18 per cent, reflecting a decrease in market volatility.

Nifty Energy, Nifty Realty, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Auto were among the top gainers while Nifty Metal, Nifty Financial Services, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Media were among the top losers.

Eicher Motors, Maruti and Power Grid were among the top gainers while Tata Steel, Tata Consumer Product and Tata Motors were among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 984 stocks were advancing as against to 1263 stocks that were declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 2:00 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade on a higher note with the Sensex trading moderately higher by 0.31 per cent, while Nifty trades higher by 0.28 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has marginally surged by 0.15 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has gained by 0.26 per cent.

India VIX is currently trading lower by 3.28 per cent, indicating a decrease in market volatility.

Nifty Energy, Nifty Realty and Nifty FMCG are among the top gaining sectors while Nifty Metal, Nifty Pharma and Nifty IT are among the top losers.

Eicher Motors, Maruti and Nestle India are among the top gainers while Tata Consumer Product, Hindalco and Tata Steel are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 1170 stocks are advancing as against 1070 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 12:40 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade higher with the Sensex surging moderately by 0.27 per cent, while Nifty also gained by 0.22 per cent. Whereas, in the broader markets Nifty Midcap has plunged by 0.19 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has declined by 0.10 per cent.

India VIX is currently trading lower by 3.08 per cent, indicating a decrease in market volatility.

European Markets are heading for a lower open on Wednesday as investors await the latest Monetary Policy Decision from the U.S Federal Reserve. European futures DAX, CAC and FTSE trade lower by 0.11 per cent, 0.68 per cent and 0.08 per cent respectively.

Nifty Energy, Nifty IT and Nifty FMCG are among the top gainers while, Nifty Metal, Nifty Pharma and Nifty PSU Bank are among the top losers.

About 1041 stocks are advancing as against to 1202 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 11:00 AM: In the ongoing trading session, benchmark indices are trading on a lower note, with Sensex trading moderately lower by 0.19 per cent while Nifty also trades lower by 0.11 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap experiences significant decline of 0.41 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap plummets by 0.61 per cent.

India VIX is trading higher by 0.64 per cent, indicating a decline in market volatility.

Nifty IT, Nifty Auto and Nifty Energy are among the top gaining sectors while Nifty Metal, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Bank are among the top losers.

Top gainers in individual stocks are Eicher Motors, Maruti and Nestle India, whereas Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Hindalco are among the leading losers in the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment is negative, with 684 stocks advancing compared to 1542 stocks declining.

 

Market Update at 9:35 AM: On Wednesday, Indian markets initiated the trading day on a positive note with Sensex opening moderately higher by 0.29 per cent, while Nifty also opened higher by 0.24 per cent. Similarly in the broader indices Nifty Midcap opened marginally higehr by 0.14 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap opened higher by 0.07 per cent.

India VIX has declined by 0.55 per cent, indicating a slight decline in market volatility.

Nifty Auto, Nifty Realty and Nifty PSU Bank are among the top gainers while Nifty Pharma, Nifty Media and Nifty Metal are among the top losers.

Eicher Motors, Maruti and BPCL are among the top gainers while Hindalco, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and Grasim are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 1240 stocks are advancing as against to 865 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 8:20 AM: On Tuesday, all three major indexes on Wall Street ended the day with gains as shares of leading chipmaker Nvidia rebounded from early losses. Investors also awaited the conclusion of the Federal Reserve's policy meeting on Wednesday, seeking insights into interest rate policies.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged by 320.33 points, or 0.83 per cent, closing at 39,110.76. Similarly, the S&P 500 saw an increase of 29.09 points, or 0.56 per cent, reaching 5,178.51, while the Nasdaq Composite rose by 63.34 points, or 0.39 per cent, to 16,166.79.

The GIFT Nifty trends suggest an optimistic opening for the benchmark indices, with an increase of 62 points or 0.28 per cent. Nifty futures were trading near the level of 21,924.

During early Asian trading on Wednesday, oil prices saw a slight decline, influenced by a stronger dollar which dampened investor interest. Additionally, traders opted to take some profits off the table after recent rallies led benchmarks to reach multi-month highs in the past two sessions.

Brent crude futures for May delivery dropped by 19 cents, or 0.2 per cent, to USD 87.19 per barrel. Similarly, US West Texas Intermediate futures for April delivery, which are set to expire on Wednesday's settlement, decreased by 35 cents, or 0.4 per cent, to USD 83.12 per barrel.

On March 19, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 1,421.48 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) purchased shares worth Rs 7,449.48 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on March 20, 2024, are BALRAMCHIN, BHEL, BIOCON, HINDCOPPER, INDUSTOWER, PEL, RBLBANK, SAIL and ZEEL.
