Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a negative note with Nifty Media among the top losers!

Sensex declined by 0.78 per cent and closed at 85,836.12, while Nifty declined by 0.81 per cent and closed at 26,216.05 level.

Market Update at 3:35 PM: On Friday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a negative note as Sensex declined by 0.31 per cent and closed at 85,571.85, while Nifty declined by 0.14 per cent and closed at 26,178.95 level. However, the Broader market, Nifty Midcap closed lower by 0.15 per cent at 60,381.15, while Nifty Smallcap closed lower by 0.10 per cent and closed at 19,242.00.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, declined by 0.33 per cent and is trading at the level of 11.96 reflecting a fall in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Pharma, Nifty Energy, and Nifty Metal emerged as Top Gainers, while Nifty Media, Nifty Realty and Nifty Bank are the sectors which underperformed.

BPCL, CIPLA, and DIVISLAB were among the top gainers while on the other hand POWERGRID, BHARTIARTL, and HDFCBANK were among the Top Losers.

About 1,079 stocks were advancing as against to 1,305 that were declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 12:35 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices are trading flat, with Sensex trading lower by 0.07 per cent while Nifty trading higher by 0.06 per cent. However, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap rose by 0.15 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap rose by 0.33 per cent.

India VIX slightly declined by 2.50 per cent and is trading around the mark of 11.70 indicating a fall in market volatility.

European markets are expected to open higher on Friday as investors assess the economic outlook and await new data. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 is projected to gain around 4 points to reach 8,287, Germany's DAX is likely to rise by 47 points to 19,269, and France's CAC is set to increase by about 26 points to 7,759.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Metal, Nifty IT, and Nifty PSU Bank are among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty Media, and Nifty Bank are the sectors which are underperforming.

BPCL, CIPLA, and TITAN are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while, POWERGRID, BHARTIARTL, and LT are among the top losers.

About 1,432 stocks are advancing as against to 950 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 11:40 AM: During the ongoing trading session, benchmark indices are showing a flat trend, with the Sensex down by 0.07 per cent and the Nifty rising by 0.04 per cent. However, in the broader market, the Nifty Midcap has rose by 0.19 per cent, while the Nifty Smallcap rose by 0.43 per cent.

India VIX declined by 1.92 per cent and is trading around the mark of 11.77, indicating a fall in market volatility.

In the sectoral landscape, Nifty IT, Nifty Metal and Nifty MID SELECT emerged as top gainers, while Nifty Realty, Nifty Media, and Nifty Fin Service are the sectors which are underperforming.

Top gainers in individual stocks are BPCL, SUNPHARMA, and CIPLA while, POWERGRID, BHARTIARTL, and LT are among the top losers in the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment is positive, with 1,456 stocks advancing compared to 923 stocks declining.

Market Update at 9:30 AM: On Friday, Indian markets opened on a flat note, with both Nifty and Sensex showing minimal movement. Nifty IT led the gains, while Nifty Realty was the biggest laggard.

As of now, the Sensex is up by 0.05 per cent, hovering around 85,870, and Nifty is slightly up by 0.09 per cent, trading near 26,240. However, in the broader market performed, the Nifty Midcap rose by 0.12 per cent to approximately 60,530, and the Nifty Smallcap rose by 0.28 per cent, trading near 19,310.

India VIX declined by 1.50 per cent and is trading at 11.82, indicating a slight fall in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty IT, Nifty Metal, and Nifty MID SELECT are among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty Energy, and Nifty FMCG are the sectors which are underperforming.

INFY, TECHM, and LTIM are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while POWERGRID, LT, and BHARTIARTL are among the top losers.

About 1,442 stocks are advancing as against to 793 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Pre-Market Update at 8:05 AM: The S&P 500 hit a record close on Thursday, with the Dow and Nasdaq also rising, as Micron Technology shares surged and positive U.S. jobless claims data eased labor market concerns.

The S&P 500 gained 23.11 points, or 0.40 per cent, closing at 5,745.37, after touching a record high of 5,767.37 during the day. The Dow Jones climbed 260.36 points, or 0.62 per cent, to 42,175.11, while the Nasdaq added 108.09 points, or 0.60 per cent, finishing at 18,190.29.

The GIFT Nifty is trading high, signaling a positive opening for the day. Nifty futures are currently trading at 26,402.35.

U.S. crude oil prices dropped nearly 3 per cent on Thursday after reports that Saudi Arabia plans to increase production later this year. Sources told The Financial Times that Saudi officials are willing to boost output in December, even if it leads to lower oil prices.

On Thursday, West Texas Intermediate (November): $67.67 per barrel, down $2.02, or 2.9 per cent. U.S. crude is down over 5 per cent this year. Brent (November): $71.60 per barrel, down $1.86, or 2.53 per cent. The global benchmark is down about 7 per cent this year.

On September 26, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 629 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 2,405 crore.

As of September 27, 2024, no stocks are under the F&O segment trading ban.
