Pre-Market Update at 7:40 AM: During Monday's trading session, all major indices in the US closed with slight gains. The Dow increased by 0.28 per cent, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite saw modest gains of 0.15 per cent and 0.21 per cent, respectively. For the month of July, the S&P 500 and the Dow recorded gains of over 3 per cent each, while the Nasdaq, known for its technology-focused companies, advanced approximately 4.1 per cent.
Oil prices surged to a new three-month peak on Monday, marking their most substantial monthly gains since January 2022. The rally was bolstered by indications of tightening global supply and increased demand for the rest of the year. In the futures market, October Brent crude futures, which saw more active trading, climbed by 1.2 per cent, settling at USD 85.43 per barrel. Simultaneously, the Dollar index traded 0.08 per cent higher in the futures market at 101.93, while the dollar's value remained close to Rs 82.26.
On Tuesday, the broader index, GIFT Nifty, is expected to open flat, showing a marginal gain of 0.03 per cent. The futures are at 19,892 points.
