Pre-Market Update at 7:35 AM: The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average achieved another record closing high on Friday, marking weekly gains across all three Wall Street benchmarks, fuelled by the resilience of artificial intelligence stocks.
Nvidia, a leading AI company, saw a 0.4 per cent increase, briefly reaching a market valuation exceeding USD 2 trillion for the first time. Following Nvidia's exceptional earnings, which drove a historic USD 277 billion surge in market value, the S&P 500 closed up 1.77 points at 5,088.8 points, while the Nasdaq Composite dipped 44.80 points to 15,996.82. Conversely, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 62.42 points to 39,131.53.
The majority of S&P sectors ended positively, with utilities, materials, and industrials leading the way with gains ranging from 0.5 per cent to 0.7 per cent.
Overall, the S&P 500 saw a weekly climb of 1.7 per cent, the Dow rose by 1.3 per cent, and the Nasdaq finished 1.4 per cent higher.
The GIFT Nifty trends suggest a flat to slightly negative start for the benchmark indices, showing a decrease of 19 points or 0.09 per cent. Nifty futures were observed trading near the 22,230 level.
India's foreign exchange reserves fell to USD 616.10 billion as of February 16, according to data from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released on February 23.
This figure represents a decrease of USD 1.13 billion from the previous week, following a larger decline of USD 5.24 billion in the week ended February 9. As a result, the current reserves mark the lowest level in two months, with the last recorded figure below this level standing at USD 615.97 billion as of December 15.
