Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a flat note with Nifty Metal and Nifty Media among top losers!

Sensex closed higher by 0.01 per cent and closed at 79,496.15, while Nifty closed lower by 0.03 per cent and closed at 24,141.30 level.

Market Update at 3:35 PM: On Monday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a flat note as Sensex closed higher by 0.01 per cent and closed at 79,496.15, while Nifty closed lower by 0.03 per cent and closed at 24,141.30 level. Similarly, the Broader market, Nifty Midcap closed lower by 0.88 per cent at 55,853.75, while Nifty Smallcap closed lower by 1.20 per cent and closed at 18,225.15.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, declined by 1.38 per cent and is trading at the level of 14.27 reflecting a fall in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty IT, Nifty Bank and Nifty Fin Service emerged as Top Gainers, while Nifty Metal, Nifty Media, and Nifty Pharma sector underperformed.

POWERGRID, TRENT, and INFY were among the top gainers while on the other hand ASIANPAINT, BRITANNIA, and APOLLOHOSP were among the Top Losers.

About 669 stocks were advancing as against to 1,706 that were declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 2:45 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices are trading positive, with Sensex trading higher by 0.20 per cent while Nifty trading higher by 0.17 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap lower by 0.62 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap lower by 0.95 per cent.

India VIX declined by 1.38 per cent and is trading around the mark of 14 indicating a fall in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty IT, Nifty PSU Bank, and Nifty Fin Service is among the top gainers while Nifty Media, Nifty Metal and Nifty FMCG is underperforming.

POWERGRID, TRENT, and INFY are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while, ASIANPAINT, BRIATNNIA, and APOLLOHOSP are among the top losers.

About 740 stocks are advancing as against to 1,629 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 12:10 PM: During the ongoing trading session, benchmark indices are showing a positive trend, with the Sensex up by 0.41 per cent and the Nifty up by 0.40 per cent. However, in the broader market, the Nifty Midcap down by 0.35 per cent, while the Nifty Smallcap declined by 0.61 per cent.

India VIX declined by 0.62 per cent and is trading around the mark of 14.38, indicating a slight fall in market volatility.

In the sectoral landscape Nifty IT, Nifty Fin Service and Nifty Bank sector emerged as top gainers, while Nifty Pharma, Nifty Media, and Nifty Metal sectors are underperforming.

Top gainers in individual stocks are POWERGRID, TRENT, and TATAMOTORS while, ASIANPAINT, CIPLA and BRITANNIA are among the top losers in the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment is negative, with 908 stocks advancing compared to 1,468 stocks declining.

Market Update at 9:35 AM: On Monday, markets opened on a negative note, with both Nifty and Sensex showing negative movement. Nifty Auto led the gains and Nifty Metal was the biggest laggard.

As of now, the Sensex is up by 0.03 per cent, hovering around 79,510, and Nifty is up by 0.03 per cent, trading near 24,150. However, in the broader market, the Nifty Midcap declined about 0.47 per cent to about 56,090, and the Nifty Smallcap is down by 0.73 per cent, trading near 18,310.

India VIX up by 2.76 per cent and is trading at 14.87, indicating a rise in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty IT, Nifty Auto, and Nifty Fin Service sector is among the top gainers while Nifty Media, Nifty Metal and Nifty Energy is underperforming.

TATAMOTORS, POWERGRID, and MARUTI are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while ASIANPAINT, BPCL, and HINDALCO are among the top losers.

About 620 stocks are advancing as against to 1,663 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Pre-Market Update at 8:30 AM: The stock market hit new record highs on Friday after Donald Trump's election win. The Dow Jones rose 259.65 points (0.59 per cent) to close at 43,988.99, briefly crossing 44,000 for the first time.

The S&P 500 gained 0.38 per cent to 5,995.54, after touching 6,000 during the session. The Nasdaq Composite edged up 0.09 per cent to 19,286.78, also hitting an intraday record.

The GIFT Nifty is trading lower, indicating a negative start for the day. Nifty futures were trading at 24,219.85.

The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield stands at 4.306 per cent, while the 2-year bond yield at 4.252 per cent.

WTI crude fell to $70 per barrel and Brent to $73.5, extending declines due to weak economic data from China despite recent stimulus. Easing US supply concerns and uncertainty over Trump’s policies also pressured prices, though potential sanctions on Iran and Venezuela may support them. Investors await OPEC’s market outlook on Tuesday.

On November 8 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) sold shares worth Rs 3,404 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 1,748 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on November 11, 2024, are ABFRL, GRANULES, MANAPPURAM.
