Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close lower while Nifty Metal surged over 1 per cent!

On Tuesday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a negative note as Sensex marginally declined by 0.08 per cent and closed at 74,683.71 level, while Nifty also declined by 0.1 per cent and closed at 22,642.75 level.

Market Update at 3:50 PM: On Tuesday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a negative note as Sensex marginally declined by 0.08 per cent and closed at 74,683.71 level, while Nifty also declined by 0.1 per cent and closed at 22,642.75 level. Whereas, the Broader market experienced mixed performance as Nifty Midcap closed marginally lower by 0.29 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap gained by 0.27 per cent.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, has declined by 2.2 per cent, reflecting a decrease in market volatility.

Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty, Nifty Financial Services and Nifty Bank were among the top gainers while Nifty Media, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Energy and Nifty FMCG were the major sectors which underperformed.

Apollo Hospitals, Hindalco and ICICI Bank were among the top gainers while Titan, Coal India and Hero Motocorp were among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 782 stocks were advancing as against to 1315 stocks that were declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 2:10 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade on a negative note with the Sensex trading marginally lower by 0.67 per cent, while Nifty also trades lower by 0.68 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has moderately declined by 0.45 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has plunged by 0.2 per cent.

India VIX is currently trading lower by 1.06 per cent, indicating a decrease in market volatility.

Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty and Nifty Financial Services are among the top gaining sectors while Nifty Media, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Energy are among the top losers.

Apollo Hospitals, Hindalco and ICICI Bank are among the top gainers while Titan, Coal India and Hero Motocorp are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 700 stocks are advancing as against 1405 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 12:35 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade substantially higher as Sensex has moderately surged by 0.12 per cent, while Nifty also gained by 0.08 per cent. Whereas, in the broader markets Nifty Midcap has marginally declined by 0.05 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has gained by 0.43 per cent.

India VIX is currently trading lower by 0.9 per cent, indicating a slight decrease in market volatility.

European markets heading for a negative start on Tuesday as investors look ahead to more key economic data this week, including U.S. Inflation figures out Wednesday. European futures DAX, CAC and FTSE trade lower by 0.11 per cent, 0.19 per cent and 0.10 per cent respectively.

Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty and Nifty Bank are among the top gainers while Nifty Media, Nifty Energy and Nifty FMCG are among the top losers.

About 939 stocks are advancing as against to 1153 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 11:05 AM: In the ongoing trading session, Benchmark indices are trading on a positive note with Sensex surging by 0.44 per cent and making a new all-time high of 75,124.28 level, while Nifty also gained by 0.38 per cent and reached its new all-time high of 22,768.40 level. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap experiences moderate gains of 0.35 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has surged by 0.74 per cent.

India VIX is trading higher by 0.97 per cent, indicating a slight decrease in market volatility.

Nifty Metal, Nifty IT and Nifty Realty are among the top gaining sectors while Nifty Energy, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Auto are among the top losers.

Top gainers in individual stocks are Infosys, Hindalco and Tata Steel, whereas Hero Motocorp, Eicher Motors and Coal India are among the top losers in the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment is slightly positive, with 1209 stocks advancing compared to 862 stocks declining.

 

Market Update at 9:30 AM: On Tuesday, Indian markets initiated the trading day on a positive note with Sensex opening moderately higher by 0.16 per cent, while Nifty also opened higher by 0.15 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap opened higher by 0.27 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap opened moderately higher by 0.44 per cent.

India VIX has declined by 1.21 per cent, indicating a slight decrease in market volatility.

Nifty Realty, Nifty IT and Nifty Auto are among the top gainers while Nifty FMCG, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Energy are among the top losers.

Infosys, Hero Motocorp and Apollo Hospitals are among the top gainers while Eicher Motors, ONGC and BPCL are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 1180 stocks are advancing as against to 734 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 7:55 AM: US stocks ended nearly flat after a volatile trading session on Monday, with a solar eclipse capturing attention just before important inflation data and the start of the earnings season for the first quarter.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped slightly by 11.24 points, or 0.03 per cent, to 38,892.80, while the S&P 500 decreased by 1.95 points, or 0.04 per cent, closing at 5,202.39. Conversely, the Nasdaq Composite saw a modest increase of 5.44 points, or 0.03 per cent, finishing at 16,253.96.

The GIFT Nifty trends suggest a robust beginning for the Indian Benchmark indices, with an increase of 59.50 points or 0.28 per cent. Nifty futures were observed trading near the 22,836 mark.

In the early hours of Asian trading, oil prices experienced an uptick as the diminishing hopes for a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza contributed to heightened tensions in the Middle East.

Brent crude futures saw an increase of 40 cents, reaching USD 90.78 a barrel. Similarly, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude prices climbed by 35 cents, landing at USD 86.78 a barrel.

On April 08, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) offloaded shares worth Rs 684.68 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 3,470.54 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on April 08, 2024, are BANDHANBNK, SAIL and ZEEL.
