Pre-Market Update at 7:55 AM: US stocks ended nearly flat after a volatile trading session on Monday, with a solar eclipse capturing attention just before important inflation data and the start of the earnings season for the first quarter.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped slightly by 11.24 points, or 0.03 per cent, to 38,892.80, while the S&P 500 decreased by 1.95 points, or 0.04 per cent, closing at 5,202.39. Conversely, the Nasdaq Composite saw a modest increase of 5.44 points, or 0.03 per cent, finishing at 16,253.96.
The GIFT Nifty trends suggest a robust beginning for the Indian Benchmark indices, with an increase of 59.50 points or 0.28 per cent. Nifty futures were observed trading near the 22,836 mark.
In the early hours of Asian trading, oil prices experienced an uptick as the diminishing hopes for a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza contributed to heightened tensions in the Middle East.
Brent crude futures saw an increase of 40 cents, reaching USD 90.78 a barrel. Similarly, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude prices climbed by 35 cents, landing at USD 86.78 a barrel.
