Market Wrap: Benchmark close higher with Nifty PSU Bank among the top gainers!

On Monday, Benchmark indices concluded the first trading day of the week on a positive note as Sensex surged by 0.18 per cent and closed at 80,664.86 level, while Nifty soared by 0.35 per cent and reached its record high at 24,635.05 level.

Market Update at 3:45 PM: On Monday, Benchmark indices concluded the first trading day of the week on a positive note as Sensex surged by 0.18 per cent and closed at 80,664.86 level, while Nifty soared by 0.35 per cent and reached its record high at 24,635.05 level. Similarly, the Broader market experienced gains as Nifty Midcap closed higher by 0.86 per cent after making a record high at 57,687.65 level, while Nifty Smallcap surged by 0.52 per cent.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, has surged by 3.37 per cent and is trading above the level of 14 reflecting an increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Media and Nifty Realty were among the top gainers, while Nifty IT was the only major sector which underperformed.

ONGC, SBI Life and Shriram Finance were among the top gainers while on the other hand LTIMindtree, Asian Paints and Grasim Industries were among the top losers.

About 1259 stocks were advancing as against to 1058 that were declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 2:00 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade on a positive note with the Sensex trading higher by 0.33 per cent, while Nifty soared by 46 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has gained by 0.87 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has surged by 0.61 per cent.

India VIX has surged by 2.86 per cent and is trading above the level of 14 indicating an increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Realty and Nifty Media are among the top gainers while Nifty IT is the only major sector which is underperforming as of now.

ONGC, SBI Life and Bajaj Auto are among the top gainers while Asian Paints, Grasim Industries and LTIMindtree are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 1339 stocks are advancing as against 971 that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 12:40 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices have surged with Sensex trading higher by 0.21 per cent while Nifty also gained by 0.36 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has gained by 0.63 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has soared by 0.62 per cent.

India VIX is has surged by 3.28 per cent and is trading above the mark of 14 indicating a increase in market volatility.

European stocks are expected to start the week lower as global markets assess the impact of an assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump at a rally over the weekend. European futures DAX, CAC and FTSE trade lower by 0.37 per cent, 0.64 per cent and 0.35 per cent respectively.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Realty, Nifty Pharma and Nifty PSU Bank are among the top gainers while no major sectors are underperforming as of now.

ONGC, Bajaj Auto and NTPC are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while, Grasim, Asian Paints and LTIMindtree are among the top losers.

About 1306 stocks are advancing as against to 1001 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 11:20 AM: In the ongoing trading session, Benchmark indices are trading on a positive note with Sensex trading higher by 0.27 per cent, while Nifty soared by 0.33 per cent and made a new all-time high at 24,603.40 level. Similarly in the broader indices Nifty Midcap experience gains of 0.36 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has surged by 0.47 per cent.

India VIX is has surged by 2.91 per cent and is trading above the mark of 14, indicating an slight increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Auto are among the top gainers while no major sectors are underperforming as of now.

Top gainers in individual stocks are ONGC, HCL Technologies and Shriram Finance whereas, Grasim Industries, Asian Paints and LTIMindtree are among the top losers in the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment is positive, with 1290 stocks advancing compared to 1013 stocks declining.

 

Market Update at 9:35 AM: On Monday, Indian markets opened the first trading session of the week on a positive note while, the Broader indices also displayed positive performance. Nifty Auto emerged as the top gainer, while Nifty Realty experienced the largest losses.

The Sensex is trading up by 0.23 per cent above the 80,600 mark while the Nifty has also gained by 0.24 per cent and has made a new all-time high at 24,598 level. Whereas, in the broader, the Nifty Midcap declined by 0.13 per cent trading below the 57,100 level while the Nifty Smallcap declined by 0.4 per cent and is trading below the 18,900 mark!

India VIX has surged by 3.7 per cent and is trading above the mark of 14, indicating a slight increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Auto, Nifty Pharma and Nifty IT were among the top gainers while Nifty Realty and Nifty Metal are the major sectors which is underperformed!

HCL Technologies, Bajaj Auto and Maruti are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while Grasim Industries, Tata Steel and Asian Paints are among the top losers.

About 959 stocks are advancing as against to 1248 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 8:25 AM:  Wall Street closed higher on Friday, with the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average hitting intraday record highs, driven by expectations that the U.S. Federal Reserve will cut interest rates in September. However, big banks fell after reporting mixed results.

The S&P 500 climbed 0.55 per cent to 5,615.35 points. The Nasdaq gained 0.63 per cent to 18,398.45 points, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.62 per cent to 40,000.90 points.

The GIFT Nifty indicates a positive start for the Indian Benchmark indices, with a slight gain of 0.05 per cent or 13 points. Nifty futures are currently trading near the 24,529.00 mark.

Oil prices declined for the second consecutive day on Monday as the dollar strengthened amid political uncertainty in the U.S. following an attack on presidential candidate Donald Trump. Investors were also monitoring progress in Gaza ceasefire talks.

Brent crude futures dropped 55 cents, or 0.7 per cent, to USD 84.48 a barrel, after a 37-cent decline on Friday. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude fell 56 cents, or 0.7 per cent, to USD 81.65 a barrel.

On July 12, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 4,021.60 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) offloaded shares worth Rs 1,651.45 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on July 15, 2024, are ABFRL, BALRAMCHIN, BANDHANBNK, CHAMBLFERT, GMRINFRA, GNFC, IEX, INDIACEM, INDUSTOWER, PEL and RBLBANK.
