Market movers: These stocks log 52-week high despite market weakness!
Sunflag Iron & Steel, Genus Power Infrastructure and Capri Global Capital top Group A gainers list.
As markets start the week on a negative note amid geo-political tensions, unbridled inflation and weak earnings from bellwethers for Q4, the benchmark indices S&P BSE Sensex closed down by 2 per cent or 1172 points at 57166.74 while Nifty50 at 17173.65 shed 302 points or 1.7 per cent.
Power, Utilities and Auto lent support to the weak market while IT, Banking and Finance stocks dragged. S&P BSE Midcap traded lower by 1 per cent at 24747.35 while BSE Smallcap closed at 29223.81 at a loss of 1.01 per cent.
However, Sunflag Iron & Steel, Genus Power Infrastructure and Capri Global Capital witnessed positive action in today’s session.
Sunflag Iron & Steel Co Ltd zoomed 19.99 per cent in today’s session to emerge as the biggest gainer in Group A. The stock hit the upper circuit of Rs 101.15 towards the last hour of today’s session and closed at that level. Intraday low stood at Rs 83.10. At Rs 101.15, the stock also hit a fresh 52-week high. As metal stocks continue to rally, this mild steel and alloy steel manufacturer has surged 18.57 per cent in the last one month.
Genus Power Infrastructure gained 13.95 per cent in today’s session and closed at Rs 99.25. The stock logged its intraday high and low in today’s session at Rs 104 and Rs 85.40, respectively. Logging its 52-week high at Rs 104, the stock was the second-biggest gainer among A Group constituents.
Capri Global Capital showed a strong rally of 16.77 per cent in today’s session to hit a fresh 52-week high at Rs 750. The diversified NBFC was the biggest gainer among the constituents of the financial sector in contrast to its sectoral index S&P BSE Finance which shed 2.1 per cent in today’s session. The intraday low was logged at Rs 636.30, and the stock closed at Rs 735.20.
