Market closes in green: IT shines while Nifty Metal hits 3-month low

Within the Nifty 50, Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies and Tech Mahindra were among the leading gainers, whereas Divi’s Laboratories, Hero Motocorp and Coal India were among the market draggers.
Profit booking was apparent in the broader markets. The sectoral indices for information technology, consumer durables, and auto were the only ones to post gains, while the media, metals, pharma, and healthcare sectors registered significant losses.
With 1,073 shares rising on the NSE and 1,644 shares declining, the advance-decline ratio strongly remained in favour of declines.
Market Update at 2:10 PM: The headline indices sustained their momentum and continued to trade considerably higher. At 2:10 pm, the BSE Sensex surged 0.28 per cent reaching a level of 79,176. The Nifty 50 index added 0.14 per cent to the 24,173 level.
Broader indices, however, lagged behind the main indices. The BSE Mid-Cap Index dropped by 0.33 per cent, while the BSE Small-Cap Index experienced a more significant decline, falling by around 0.50 per cent.

Market Update at 12:30 PM: The tide has shifted for benchmark indices, as they gained positive momentum during the afternoon trades, driven by robust gains in information technology stocks. Metal stocks saw a sharp decline today after the Supreme Court ruled that states could levy taxes and royalties on minerals in addition to Central duties, and permitted states to collect past dues.
At 12:30 pm, the BSE Sensex gained 0.20 per cent reaching a level of 79,105. The Nifty 50 index added 0.07 per cent to the 24,156 level.

At 9:30 am, the BSE Sensex edged down by 0.02 per cent reaching a level of 78,948. The Nifty 50 index lost 0.04 per cent to the 24,128 level. Broader indices experienced a substantial sell-off.
In terms of sectoral performance, Nifty IT and Nifty Auto were the only gainers, while Nifty Realty, Nifty Media, and Nifty FMCG emerged as notable laggards.
