Market awaits budget in wait and watch mode
The Indian stock markets were in top spirit on Thursday morning ahead of the Union Budget announced by Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley. The markets were trading higher despite fears of LTCG making a comeback.
Benchmark indices Nifty50 11,064.35, up by 36.65 points or 0.33 per cent, while BSE Sensex was at 36,110.04, up by 145.02 points or 0.40 per cent at 10:40 hours. Among Sectoral indices, Nifty Bank was at 27,495.00, up 0.42 per cent, Nifty Auto was at 11,664.80, up by 0.46 per cent, Nifty FMCG 27,142.85, up by 0.06 per cent, while Nifty Media, Nifty Pharma, Nifty Metal and Nifty PSU Bank were in the red.
Among the top gainers on Thursday were L&T was trading at Rs. 1,461.10 per share, up by 3.15 per cent, M&M was at Rs. 780.45, up by 2.28 per cent, TCS 3,179.40, up by 2.15 per cent, Indiabulls Housing Finance was at 1,404.15, up by 1.98 per cent, Eicher Motor 27,359.95 up by 1.62 per cent.
Meanwhile, the top losers were Vedanta was trading at Rs. 331.60 per share, down by 2.57 per cent, Dr. Reddy Lab was at Rs. 2,178.10 per share, down by 2.12 per cent, InfraTel Rs. 344.70 per share, down by 1.95 per cent, Coal India was at Rs. 295.65, down by 1.30 per cent, Tata Steel 691.70, down by 1.89 per cent.
