Its a hat trick: These three stocks were locked in the 20 per cent upper circuit today

IOL Chemicals & Pharma, Mrs Bector Food and Spandana Sphoorty were the top gainers in A Group.

The new financial year brought cheer to the stock market with the benchmark indices S&P BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 closed up by 1.2 per cent at 59276.69 and 17670.45, respectively. The Midcap segment closed on a positive note gaining 1.4 per cent at 24107.97 while Smallcap index closed at a gain of 1.71% at 28699.41.

Among sectoral indices, PSUs, Utilities and Power grabbed the limelight as most sectors traded in the green. 

IOL Chemicals & Pharma, Mrs Bector Food and Spandana Sphoorty witnessed positive action in today’s session. 

IOL Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals zoomed 20 per cent in today’s session to emerge as the biggest gainer in the ‘A‘ Group. Today, the stock was locked in the upper circuit of 20 per cent and closed at the day’s high of Rs 424.55. The stock which was under selling pressure in the last few sessions opened higher than its previous closing and rallied in today’s session. The company is a leading generic pharmaceutical company and is a significant player in the organic chemicals space. 

Mrs Bector Food Specialities was also locked in the upper circuit of 20 per cent in today’s session. The stock closed at Rs 336.35 from the day’s low of Rs 281.30. It logged its 52 week low in yesterday’s session at Rs 279. The company is engaged in the premium and mid-premium biscuits segment and the premium bakery segment in North India.  

Spandana Sphoorty Financial was the third stock that touched its upper circuit of 20 per cent at Rs 398.80 in the day’s trade and closed at a gain of 19.74 per cent at Rs397.95. The rural-focused NBFC-MFI had been under selling pressure in the last month, where it tested its 52-week low at Rs 325.30.
