Four stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Both Sensex, as well as Nifty, opened Monday's trading session in the negative territory. At 10.56 am, Sensex plunged 0.65 per cent and was spotted at 58,264.85 level while Nifty dipped 0.61 per cent to be at 17,409.25 level.
The top three gainers of the day included State Bank of India, Tata Steel, and Power Grid, which soared 3.55 per cent, 2.80 per cent & 1.26 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, L&T, Bajaj Finance, and HDFC Bank turned out to be the top three losers, which tanked 2.14 per cent, 1.80 per cent & 1.61 per cent, respectively.
