Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices opened on a higher note on Monday after a long weekend. However, at 11.54 am, both Sensex, as well as Nifty, were spotted in the red zone, plunging 0.31 per cent each at 57,685.41 and 17,234.30 levels, respectively.
The top gainers of the day include Maruti, Titan, and Tata Steel, which surged 2.51 per cent, 2.03 per cent & 1.82 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Power Grid, State Bank of India, and Kotak Mahindra Bank turned out to be the top losers, which tumbled 2.20 per cent, 1.79 per cent & 1.72 per cent, respectively.
