Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices opened the third trading session of the week on a negative note. At 12.03 pm, both Sensex, as well as Nifty, were spotted in the red zone, trading at 55,205.99 and 16,537.45 levels, slipping by 1.85 per cent & 1.53 per cent, respectively.
The top gainers of today's session include Tata Steel, Titan, and Mahindra & Mahindra, which soared 5.17 per cent, 1.66 per cent & 0.68 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Maruti, Asian Paints, and ICICI Bank turned out to be the top losers, which tumbled 4.94 per cent, 4.67 per cent & 4.26 per cent, respectively.
