Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened Friday's trading session on a negative note. However, at 11.48 am, Sensex was seen trading with gains at 58,018.99 level, up by 0.22 per cent whereas Nifty plunged 0.40 per cent to be at 17,236.05 level.
L&T, HDFC, and Tata Steel emerged as the top gainers of the day, which climbed 1.35 per cent, 1.32 per cent & 1.05 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, UltraTech Cement, Nestle, and Tech Mahindra turned out to be the top losers, which tanked 1.33 per cent, 1.00 per cent & 0.87 per cent, respectively.
