Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices opened Tuesday's trading session on a positive note but soon, slipped into negative territory. At 11.33 am, both Sensex, as well as Nifty, plunged 0.61 per cent each to be at 57,266.86 and 17,108.25 levels, respectively.
The top three gainers of the day included Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, and Titan, which inched higher by 1.07 per cent, 1.01 per cent & 0.82 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Power Grid, L&T, and Kotak Mahindra Bank turned out to be the top three losers of the day, which tumbled 1.73 per cent, 1.70 per cent & 1.60 per cent, respectively.
