Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Both Sensex, as well as Nifty, opened Thursday's session in the negative territory. At 11.40 am, Sensex was seen trading at 59,151.08 level, inching lower by 0.68 per cent while Nifty tanked 0.63 per cent to be at 17,667.35 level.
The top three gainers of the day included Maruti, Titan, and Asian Paints, which advanced 2.42 per cent, 0.83 per cent & 0.73 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, HDFC, L&T, and Infosys turned out to be the top three losers, which tumbled 2.76 per cent, 2.00 per cent & 1.36 per cent, respectively.
