Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened Friday's session on a negative note. At 1.40 pm, Sensex was seen trading at 61,087.93 levels, down by 0.24 per cent while Nifty plunged 0.22 per cent to be at 18,217.75 levels.
Infosys, L&T, and TCS turned out to be the top three gainers today, which climbed 1.64 per cent, 1.51 per cent & 1.01 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, the top three losers include Asian Paints, Axis Bank and Hindustan Unilever, which tumbled 2.92 per cent, 2.65 per cent & 2.06 per cent, respectively.
