Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened the first trading session of the week on a strong note. At 11.34 am, Sensex, as well as Nifty, were seen trading in the positive territory, inching higher by 0.66 per cent & 0.68 per cent at 60,137.95 and 17,934.40 levels, respectively.
The top three gainers of the day include Maruti, Infosys, and ITC, which soared 3.47 per cent, 2.75 per cent & 1.83 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Wipro, Asian Paints, and Nestle turned out to be the top three losers, which slipped 2.21 per cent, 1.15 per cent & 0.80 per cent, respectively.
