Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex as well as Nifty opened Thursday's trading session in the red. At 12.25 pm, both the domestic benchmark indices were seen trading in the negative territory i.e. down by 1.49 per cent & 1.46 per cent at 59,326.48 and 17,663.35 levels, respectively.
The top two gainers of today's session include Bharti Airtel and Maruti, which inched higher by 2.19 per cent & 0.80 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, HCL Technologies, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Infosys turned out to be the top three losers, which tanked 2.46 per cent, 2.40 per cent & 2.30 per cent, respectively.
