Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On the first trading session of the week, Sensex and Nifty opened in the red zone but at 12.12 pm, both were spotted in the positive territory. Sensex was trading at 57,200.79 levels, up by 0.13 per cent while Nifty inched higher by 0.11 per cent to be at 17,022.65 levels.
The top three gainers of today's session include Tech Mahindra, Power Grid, and Bajaj Finserv, which surged 3.08 per cent, 1.38 per cent & 1.09 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, IndusInd Bank, Asian Paints, and Bajaj Finance turned out to be the top three losers, which tumbled 2.00 per cent, 0.85 per cent & 0.67 per cent, respectively.
