Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On the fourth trading session of the week, the domestic benchmark indices opened in the green zone and continued trading in the positive territory even at 12.48 pm. Sensex climbed 0.82 per cent and was spotted at 57,399.02 levels while Nifty inched higher by 0.79 per cent to be at 17,089.20 levels.
Power Grid Corporation, ITC, and Bajaj Finance emerged as the top three gainers today, which soared 3.08 per cent, 2.81 per cent & 2.33 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, UltraTech Cement, Bharti Airtel, and Asian Paints turned out to be the top three losers, which plunged 0.83 per cent, 0.74 per cent & 0.63 per cent, respectively.
