Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On the third trading session of the week, Sensex & Nifty opened in the green zone and continued trading in the positive territory even at 12.24 pm. Both Sensex and Nifty advanced by 0.66 per cent & 0.67 per cent and were seen trading at 56,690.78 and 16,883.55 levels, respectively.
The top three gainers of today's session include Bajaj Finance, Sun Pharma, and Tata Steel, which soared 3.04 per cent, 1.77 per cent & 1.68 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Wipro, Nestle Industries, and HDFC turned out to be the top three losers, which tanked 1.12 per cent, 0.43 per cent & 0.39 per cent, respectively.
