Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On Tuesday, both Sensex and Nifty opened in the red zone. At 11.15 am, Sensex was seen trading at 57,947.28 levels, down by 0.58 per cent while Nifty plummeted 0.60 per cent to be at 17,263.60 levels.
The top three gainers of today's session include Power Grid Corporation, NTPC, and Hindustan Unilever, which increased 2.23 per cent, 0.76 per cent & 0.51 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finserv, and Bajaj Finance turned out to be the top three losers, which tumbled 2.69 per cent, 2.11 per cent & 1.96 per cent, respectively.
