Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices kicked off the fourth trading session of the week on a positive note. At 11.37 am on Thursday, Sensex was trading at 58,189.06 levels, up by 0.87 per cent while Nifty inched higher by 0.86 per cent to be at 17,314.95 levels.
The top three gainers of today's session include Power Grid, HDFC, and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, which soared 3.38 per cent, 3.26 per cent & 2.82 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and Larsen & Toubro turned out to be the top three losers today, which tanked 1.01 per cent, 0.67 per cent & 0.32 per cent, respectively.
