Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices opened in the negative territory on the third day of the week. At 12.10 pm, both Sensex and Nifty plunged 0.50 per cent & 0.50 per cent, trading at 60,140.87 and 17,956.35 levels, respectively.
The top three gainers of today’s session include M&M, Bharti Airtel, and Dr. Reddy, which surged 3.14 per cent, 1.89 per cent & 1.04 per cent, respectively.
Meanwhile, the top three losers are Tata Steel, Indusind Bank, and Asian Paints, which slipped by 3.19 per cent, 2.69 per cent & 1.55 per cent, respectively.
