Five stocks witnessing short covering

Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.

Sensex and Nifty opened in the negative territory on the first trading session of the month. At 11.53 am on October 1, 2021, Sensex was trading at 58,611.35, down by 0.87 per cent while Nifty was at 17,477.10, down by 0.80 per cent.

The top three gainers of today’s session include Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel, and UltraTech Cement, which climbed 1.59 per cent, 1.05 per cent & 0.35 per cent, respectively.

Meanwhile, the top three losers are Bajaj Finserv, Maruti, and Asian Paints, which tanked 3.30 per cent, 2.52 per cent & 2.15 per cent, respectively.
