Eleven New Passive Funds Tracking Nifty Indices Launched in Japan and Korea
Nine of these funds are designed to track the Nifty 50 Index. One fund tracks the Nifty India Corporate Group Index - Tata Group 25 per cent, and another tracks the Nifty Midcap 50 Index.
During the fiscal year 2024-25, eleven new passive funds, including Exchange Traded Funds and Index Funds, that track Nifty Indices were introduced in Japan and Korea.
Nine of these funds are designed to track the Nifty 50 Index. One fund tracks the Nifty India Corporate Group Index - Tata Group 25 per cent, and another tracks the Nifty Midcap 50 Index. The issuers of these funds are prominent asset management companies.

Currently, there are 33 passive funds tracking Nifty Indices outside India, with a total Assets Under Management (AUM) of USD 4.3 billion.
As of the end of February 2025, the total AUM of passive funds (Equity & Debt) in India is Rs 9.8 Lakh Crores, with 73% tracking Nifty Indices. There are 391 passive funds tracking various Nifty Indices in India, with a total AUM of Rs 7.1 Lakh Crores.
Aniruddha Chatterjee, MD of NSE Indices Limited, stated that there's a rising demand from global asset managers for India-focused passive investment products. He also mentioned that FY 2024-25 was a landmark year for NSE Indices, with the successful launch of eleven passive products based on Nifty indices outside India, and he anticipates this trend to continue.
