Don't miss the action in these price volume breakout stocks!

Oil company stocks were trading in the red with ONGC plunging 9 per cent and BPCL slipping 5 per cent.

A sea of green is being witnessed in the markets on Friday as Nifty attempted to get over the major resistance level of 16,400. The European markets are in green while Dow Jones Futures is trading with mild gains. 

IT stocks and banks are seen pushing BSE Sensex higher. Tech Mahindra is the top BSE Sensex gainer while Infosys and HDFC twins put together are seen contributing the most to BSE Sensex gains.  

In the broader markets, the Mid-Cap, as well as the small-cap indices, traded 1.44 per cent & 1.24 per cent higher, respectively, in line with the benchmark indices. On the sectoral front, apart from the oil & gas index, the majority of the sectoral indices were trading with decent gains of over 1 per cent. BSE Oil & Gas index slipped 1.47 per cent.  Oil company stocks were trading in the red with ONGC plunging 9 per cent and BPCL slipping 5 per cent after reports claimed that the government was considering a windfall tax on the state-owned and private oil & gas (O&G) giants.
