Do you own this large-cap stock that doubled investors wealth in 2021, so far?

Owing to the definition, large-cap stocks tend to move slower than mid & small-cap stocks. It can be seen that large-caps have still managed to beat Sensex on a YTD basis.

The markets have been witnessing the profits that investors bagged by investing in the small & midcap stocks during the pandemic. Since the beginning of 2021, BSE Midcap index rose around 25.03 per cent whereas BSE Smallcap index has gained around 41.55 per cent. In comparison, Sensex, which comprises the top 30 stocks of the country, has gained only 13.91 per cent on a YTD basis. Both the indices have clearly outperformed Sensex by a wide margin.

Having analysed this, one cannot overlook the performance of large-cap stocks in 2021. BSE Largecap index has zoomed by 16.81 per cent in 2021, so far. Owing to the definition, large-cap stocks tend to move slower than mid & small-cap stocks. It can be seen that large-caps have still managed to beat Sensex on a YTD basis.

The top stock in the list of large-cap gainers is Tata Steel. It delivered returns of 113.57 per cent on a YTD basis whereas 234.88 per cent in the last one year. The buzz in the metal stocks has been due to earnings announcements by the companies and a polished outlook predicted for the overall sector. Apart from this, Tata Steel BSL, a subsidiary of Tata Steel,  has recently set up the ‘world’s first’ ultraviolet oxidation plant in the industry at its facility in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district for the purpose of treatment of cyanide in coke oven wastewater, a deadly pollutant.
