Rahul Rajiv Gandhi, an Indian politician and Member of Parliament representing Wayanad, Kerala, in the Lok Sabha

Rahul Rajiv Gandhi, an Indian politician and Member of Parliament representing Wayanad, Kerala, in the Lok Sabha, previously represented Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, for the Indian National Congress, serving as party president from December 2017 to July 2019. He chairs the Indian Youth Congress and National Students Union of India and is a trustee of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust, born in New Delhi, he spent his early years between Delhi and Dehradun, receiving primary education in Delhi and attending The Doon School.

Afterwards, due to security concerns, he was home-schooled and pursued his undergraduate degree at St. Stephen's College before moving to Harvard University and later Rollins College in Florida, where he completed his degree in 1994. He obtained his M.Phil. from Cambridge the next year and began his career with the Monitor Group in London before founding Backops Services Private Ltd in Mumbai upon returning to India. Gandhi has been elected multiple times to the Lok Sabha, serving on various parliamentary committees.

Born into the prominent Gandhi-Nehru political family, he is the son of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress, and the grandson of Indira Gandhi, India's first female Prime Minister. Gandhi's early education and entry into politics were marked by security concerns following the assassinations of his grandmother and father, leading to home-schooling and later a shift to Harvard and then Rollins College for his higher education.

He entered politics in 2004, contesting and winning from Amethi, and later succeeding his mother as Congress party president in 2017. Gandhi's tenure as a leader has seen mixed electoral outcomes, with significant losses in the 2014 and 2019 general elections. He has also played key roles in youth politics, notably as General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress and National Students Union of India, overseeing significant growth and restructuring within these organizations and advocating for greater youth and student involvement in politics and social issues.
