Closing Bell : Markets end on a positive note, Auto, IT and Energy stocks shine!
At 4 pm on April 20, the benchmark indices, i.e. Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading higher as compared to the previous one. Sensex was trading at 57,037.50, up by 574.35 points or 1.02 per cent while Nifty 50 was trading at 17,136.55, up by 177.90 points or 1.05 per cent.

The Top Gainers in Nifty 50 pack were Tata Motors (3.54 per cent), BPCL (3.50 per cent), and Shree Cement. On the other hand, the stocks pulling down Sensex were Bajaj Finance (3.27 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (1.41 per cent), and ICICI Bank (1.27 per cent).
BSE Midcap index was trading at a level of 24,534, up by 0.34 per cent. The top three gainers of the index were ACC (6.57 per cent), Sona Blw Precision Forgings (4.23 per cent), and Biocon (4.12 per cent).The top three stocks dragging the index were Macrotech Developers (3.98 per cent), Cholamandalam Investment and Fin Co (3.65 per cent), and Indian Hotels Company (3.11 per cent).
BSE Smallcap index is trading at 28,985, up by 0.40 per cent. The top gainers include Texmaco Rail Engineering, MFL India, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals, Spence's Retailr, and Gufic Biosciences, which were up by over 10 per cent each. The top three stocks pulling the index down were Dynemic Products, Tata Steel Long Products, and Paushak Limited.
Most of the sectoral indices were trading in the green but the top indices were BSE Auto (up by 2.24 per cent) and BSE Energy (up by 2.04 per cent).
