Budget 2022: Green budget for the farmers

The good news for the Indian farmers is that Rs 2.3 lakh crore has to be directly paid as MSP to farmers for Rabi wheat procurement. Procurement of wheat in Rabi season 2021-22 and the estimated procurement of paddy in Kharif season 2021-22 will give cover 1,208 lakh metric tonnes of wheat & paddy from 163 lakh farmers. Inclusive development is the government's priority that includes farmers for Paddy, Kharif & Rabi crops, under which, 1,000 LMT Paddy is expected to be procured, benefitting over 1 crore farmers. 

 

The chemical-free farming procedure will be promoted throughout the country. FY22 farm procurement will be valued at Rs 2.37 lakh crore. To implement a scheme to lower the dependence on oilseed imports along with the domestic production for oilseeds will be given more importance and subsidies. The FM announced that chemical-free natural farming will be promoted throughout the country with a focus on farmers’ land in 5 km wide corridors along the River Ganga, in the first stage.
