Bharti Airtel was the top Nifty gainer on Wednesday. Know why?

Shares of Bharti Airtel gained around 4 per cent on October 20

According to the report, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has reached out to mobile operators seeking their response on whether they want to opt for a four-year moratorium on spectrum payments and adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues.

The department has also looking for their views on whether they would prefer to convert the interest, which would accrue during the moratorium, into equity.

Telecom companies need to revert by October 29 if they choose the moratorium option. They have a further 90 days to respond on the equity conversion. Airtel and Jio have not responded yet.

This moratorium will be good news for telecom companies as they can temporarily stay away from payments and dues for a certain period.

Airtel launched ‘Airtel IQ Video’ – a CPaaS solution to democratize video streaming in India.

Airtel IQ Video is an end-to-end managed solution that brings convenience along with cost benefits. It encompasses a variety of features ranging from app development, content hosting, curation and lifecycle management to search and discovery, analytics and monetization models (advertising, subscriptions, transactions).

How can TV entertainment channels benefit from it?

Take the example of Raj TV, which have used Airtel IQ Video to take the OTT route to serve increasingly digital-savvy consumers. Raj TV had a content library of over 30,000 hours with some of the best Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films. But most of this content was on tapes/analog formats and the audience also want to access these through OTT.

Using Airtel IQ Video, they have been able to digitize their content, host it on Airtel’s cloud platforms and offer it to the audience, both in India and across the globe through their own OTT app. Importantly, they have been able to achieve this at the fraction of the cost in a very quick time with access to the best technology that has ensured the user experience is excellent. They look forward to deepening their relationship with Airtel.

Bharti Airtel added 1.38 lakh users in August, whereas reliance Jio gained 6.49 lakh users according to the TRAI data released on Wednesday.

Shares of Bharti Airtel Limited was last trading in NSE at Rs 708.45 as compared to the previous close of Rs 681, 4 per cent jump for the day on October 20.
