Benchmark indices close on a lower note, with Nifty Realty among the top losers!

On Tuesday’s trading session Benchmark indices concluded the day on a lower note with Sensex closing lower by 0.54 per cent at 69,551.03 level, while Nifty plunged by 0.43 per cent closing at 20,906.40.

Market Update at 3:40 PM: On Tuesday’s trading session Benchmark indices concluded the day on a lower note with Sensex closing lower by 0.54 per cent at 69,551.03 level, while Nifty plunged by 0.43 per cent closing at 20,906.40. Similarly, Broader indices closed on a lower note with Nifty Midcap closing lower by 0.39 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap marginally surged by 0.03 per cent.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, has marginally declined by 0.35 per cent, reflecting a slight decline in market volatility.

Nifty Media, Nifty Metal and Nifty PSU Bank were among the top gainers while, Nifty Realty, Nifty Energy and Nifty Auto were among the top losers.

HDFC Life, Ultratech Cement and Bajaj Auto were among the top gainers while BPCL, Apollo Hospitals and Maruti were among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 744 stocks were advancing as against to 1299 stocks that were declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 2:25 PM: In the current trading session the Sensex is trading lower by 0.41 per cent, while Nifty has plunged by 0.31 per cent. Similarly, Nifty Midcap trades lower by 0.33 per cent, whereas Nifty Smallcap surges by 0.25 per cent.

India VIX has marginally declined by 0.1 per cent, indicating a slight decrease in market volatility.

Nifty Media, Nifty Metal and Nifty IT are among the top gainers while, Nifty Realty, Nifty Energy and Nifty Auto are among the top losers.

HDFC Life, Ultratech Cement and Bajaj Auto are among the top gainers while BPCL, Apollo Hospitals and Sun Pharma are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 860 stocks are advancing as against to 1177 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 12:40 PM: In the current trading session the Sensex is trading flat, while Nifty has marginally increase by 0.04 per cent. Similarly, Nifty Midcap trades higher by 0.16 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap surges by 0.64 per cent.

India VIX has marginally declined by 0.35 per cent, indicating a decrease in market volatility.

European markets are heading for a positive open on Tuesday as global investors look ahead to this week’s federal reserve policy meeting, which begins today, as well as the latest US inflation reading. European futures DAX, CAC and FTSE trade higher by 0.11 per cent 0.18 per cent and 0.11 per cent respectively.

Market Update at 9:35 AM: On Tuesday, the Sensex opened marginally higher by 0.1 per cent, while Nifty opened marginally higher by 0.17 per cent. Similarly, Nifty Midcap also opened on a positive note surging by 0.35 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap opened substantially higher by 0.49 per cent.

India VIX has marginally surged by 0.35 per cent, indicating an increase in market volatility.

Nifty Media, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Metal are among the top gaining sectors while Nifty Energy is the only major sector which is underperforming.

HDFC Life, Bajaj Auto and Hero Motocorp are among the top gainers while BPCL, Eicher Motors and Bharti Airtel are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 1380 stocks are advancing as against to 523 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 8:10 AM: On Monday, Wall Street witnessed a slight uptick in stocks preceding the Federal Reserve's year-end meeting.

Initially experiencing minor fluctuations between gains and losses, the S&P 500 posted a 0.4 per cent increase, concluding the day at its highest level in two years. Simultaneously, the Nasdaq composite closed 0.2 per cent higher, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average also saw a gain of 0.4 per cent.

Anticipated for Tuesday's trading session, the domestic market benchmark indices are likely to start on a positive note, with GIFT Nifty showing a 68-point increase from Monday's closing on Nifty Futures, buoyed by favourable global signals. The Gift Nifty is currently hovering around the 21,147.50 level.

Oil futures concluded Monday with a decline, capping their lengthiest series of weekly downturns since 2018 due to apprehensions about a decelerating global economy and surging U.S. supply. The West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery eked out a gain of 9 cents, or 0.1 per cent, settling at USD 71.32 per barrel.

Meanwhile, February Brent crude, the global benchmark, increased by 19 cents, or nearly 0.3 per cent, closing at USD 76.03 per barrel after experiencing a decrease of almost 3.9 per cent the previous week.

On December 11, 2023, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 1,261.13 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) sold shares worth Rs 1,032.92 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on December 12, 2023, are India Cements, Balrampur Chini Mills, Delta Corp, Hindustan Copper, Indiabulls Housing Finance, National Aluminium Company, and SAIL.
