BEL signs contract worth Rs 1,000 crore with Ministry of Defence
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) & Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) signed a contract worth over Rs 1,000 crore for the procurement of software-defined radio tactical (SDR-Tac) in New Delhi on February 8, 2021.
SDR-Tac is jointly designed & developed by Defence Electronics Application Laboratory (DEAL) of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO). It has been designed through a consortium of domestic agencies and industry, which include Weapons & Electronics Systems Engineering Establishment (WESEE), Bharat Electronics Ltd, Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIR) as well as Indian Navy. SDR-Tac will bring strategic depth to the Indian Navy.
The expected time for delivery of the product is three years. Currently, BEL is supplying SDR Naval Combat (NC) version. The other product SDR-Air is under user evaluation trial. DRDO and BEL are planning to provide the latest SDR with the best security grading to the Indian Navy, which will enhance the overall security of the Indian Navy.
The stock of BEL closed at Rs 137.90 per share, down by 2.02 per cent on Tuesday.
