An investment of Rs 69,000 in Adani Enterprises would have turned into over Rs 1 crore; know how!

The stock of Adani Enterprises was quoted at Rs 69.05 at the beginning of 2015 and 1,000 shares of Adani Enterprises would cost Rs 69,050 (Rs 69.05*1000)!

For a Bollywood fan, ‘Rahul, naam to suna hi hoga?’ by Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most iconic dialogues in the film industry to date. Similarly, Adani Group is one of the popular Indian business conglomerates, which you might have noticed in the media and tabloids very often. Recently, Gautam Adani surpassed Microsoft Co-Founder Bill Gates as the fourth richest person in the world and went on to become Asia’s richest man!

In the past couple of years, the group has been doing aggressive acquisitions, which is reflected in the pace, at which, Gautam Adani surpassed Mukesh Ambani, who was India’s richest man earlier. However, now, Gautam Adani is climbing up the ladders on the global level as well.

The success of Adani Group Chairman is not hidden from anyone and certainly, it is one of those stories that need to be written in golden words in the history of India. Now comes the most important question, what about the shareholders of Adani Enterprises? What would be their wealth if they continue to hold the stock of Adani Enterprises?

We have done some calculations for you, starting from 2015 to 2022. The stock of Adani Enterprises was quoted at Rs 69.05 at the beginning of 2015 and 1,000 shares of Adani Enterprises would cost Rs 69,050 (Rs 69.05*1000)!

Now, comes an interesting part i.e. the demerger story. Adani Enterprises is an incubator focussing on establishing new businesses in the infrastructure and energy sector. It has done this consistently since 1994 when it was first established and listed.

Suppose, you owned 1,000 shares of Adani Enterprises in 2015, then you would have got 1,000 shares of Adani Transmission and in the year 2018, you would have received 761 shares of Adani Green Energy. Meanwhile, in the same year, you would have received 1,000 shares of Adani Total Gas.

The below table shows the holding along with the current market price:

Stock names

No. of shares

CMP in Rs

Total value in Rs

Adani Enterprises

1,000

2740.9

27,40,900

Adani Transmission

1,000

3,392.85

33,92,850

Adani Green Energy

761

2,146.15

16,33,220.15

Adani Total Gas

1,000

3,418.2

34,18,200

Total value

1,11,85,170.15

So, an investment of Rs 69,050 in 2015 would have become Rs 1,11,85,710 (nearly Rs 1 crore 12 lakh) in 2022!!

That’s the value Adani Enterprises has created for its shareholders. In a nutshell, you can love it or hate it but you can’t ignore Adani Enterprises' shares!
