Today, all eyes are set on RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee, which has scheduled its bi-monthly meeting today.
Amid heavy speculations of another 40-bps rate hike, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened at a gain of 276.71 points, which was 0.5 per cent higher than its previous close. By 9.15 am, the index was at the level of 55,309.26 or 0.37 per cent up from its previous close.
On the sectoral front, auto climbed approx. 0.68 per cent, realty surged nearly 0.62 per cent whereas capital goods inched higher by 0.58 per cent in the pre-opening session.
Meanwhile, Hindustan Oil Exploration, KNR Constructions, and Future Retail emerged as the Top Gainers from Group A in the pre-opening session today. It should be noted that no major announcements have been made by any of the companies lately.
Hindustan Oil Exploration Co. Ltd, an S&P BSE Smallcap company, surged 9.84 per cent to trade at Rs 214.80 apiece. This rally comes at a time when shares of oil companies are registering fresh 52-week highs.
Similarly, KNR Constructions Ltd, an S&P BSE 500 company, rallied 7.06 per cent to trade at Rs 274.60 apiece.
At the same time, the shares of Future Retail Ltd, another S&P BSE Smallcap company, climbed 4.86 per cent to trade at Rs 7.33 apiece.
