Airtel to collaborate with Tata Group for implementing 5G network solutions in India
Bharti Airtel Ltd, a leading communication solutions provider, announced today that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Tata Group for the implementation of 5G network solutions in the country.
Tata Group has developed an open radio access network (O-RAN) based radio & non standalone/standalone (NSA/SA) Core. Here, it (Tata Group) has combined a totally indigenous telecom stack, making use of the Group’s capabilities along with that of its partners and will be available for commercial development from January 2022.
In this collaboration, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will bring in its expertise in global system integration and aid in the alignment of an end-to-end solution to both 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and O-RAN standards, as the network and equipment are embedded into the software.
On the other hand, Airtel, as part of its 5G rollout plans in India, will manoeuver and bring into play this indigenous solution. It will initiate the process in January 2022, according to the guidelines of the Government of India.
At the time of market closing today, the share price of Bharti Airtel Ltd stood at Rs 539.50 on BSE, an increase of 0.11 per cent over its previous closing price of Rs 538.90.
