DSIJ's Editorial Policy

This Editorial Policy outlines the principles and standards that guide the creation, review, and publication of editorial content at Dalal Street Investment Journal (DSIJ).

Our Editorial Mission

At DSIJ, our mission is to democratise access to market knowledge by delivering timely, accurate, and well-researched market insights that help investors and traders make better-informed decisions across experience levels.

We strive to educate our audience with clear, objective, and well-contextualised reporting and analysis while maintaining the highest standards of editorial integrity and independence.

DSIJ’s editorial content is published for information and education purposes only and does not constitute investment advice.

1) Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are made by our editorial team and editorial panel without influence from advertisers, sponsors, shareholders, or other outside parties. Commercial relationships do not affect what topics we choose or how we cover them.

Advertising & Sponsored Content: Advertising and sponsored content are clearly marked and kept separate from editorial reporting and analysis. Advertisers and sponsors do not preview, approve, or influence editorial content. Editorial staff are not compensated for publishing any commercial or promotional content.

2) Content Types: News vs Analysis vs Opinion

DSIJ maintains a clear distinction between:

  • News: fact-based reporting, without editorialising or promotional intent.
  • Analysis / Explainers: evidence-led interpretation of facts and data, designed to add context and understanding.
  • Opinion: viewpoint-driven content that is clearly labelled as Opinion and grounded in facts.

We do not present opinion as news.

3) Accuracy, Fairness & Verification

We are committed to maintaining high editorial standards and publishing content that is:

  • Accurate - based on verified sources and data
  • Fair - presenting competing viewpoints where relevant
  • Clear - understandable and transparent to readers

Before publication

  • Contributors must verify facts, figures, and material claims.
  • Content is reviewed for factual consistency, logical soundness, and clarity.
  • For materially critical stories, DSIJ follows a ‘no surprises’ approach by seeking comment from relevant parties and presenting their response fairly, wherever practicable.

Corrections, clarifications, and updates If an error is identified, we correct it promptly and transparently. Where a change is material, we will indicate that a correction/clarification was made and what was corrected.

4) Stock Coverage & Disclosure Norms

DSIJ follows defined principles while selecting, covering, and discussing stocks, sectors, and market themes across its editorial platforms.

Coverage Selection

Stocks and themes covered in editorial content are selected based on:

  • Market relevance and investor interest
  • Corporate developments, financial performance, or sectoral trends
  • Educational and analytical merit

Coverage does not imply a recommendation unless explicitly stated as part of a SEBI-regulated research or advisory service offered by DSIJ.

No Buy/Sell Calls, Price Targets, or Timelines in Editorial articles.

Actionable recommendations are offered only through designated research or advisory services with appropriate disclosures and regulatory framework.

Use of data and historical performance

Editorial articles may cite publicly available information such as prices, financial results, ratios, and corporate announcements. References to past performance, if any, are informational and do not guarantee future results.

Conflicts of interest and disclosures

Any material conflict of interest known to the author, contributor, or editorial team is disclosed where applicable. Where a conflict is significant, DSIJ may restrict the contributor’s involvement in coverage or apply additional editorial review.

Market-sensitive information

DSIJ does not publish unverified rumours or content intended to manipulate markets. We take special care with price-sensitive topics and prioritise verification, context, and responsible framing.

5) AI Usage Disclosure

DSIJ recognises the evolving role of technology and artificial intelligence in modern content workflows while maintaining human editorial oversight.

How AI may be used:

  • Language refinement and grammar assistance
  • Summarisation of publicly available information
  • Improving readability and formatting
  • Any other use to enhance depth and quality (with human oversight and policy compliance)
