Wipro Limited, a leading global information technology company declared the acquisition of Ampion, an Australia-based provider of cybersecurity, devOps, and quality engineering services.

Reportedly, Ampion emerged after merging of IT services providers namely, ‘Revolution IT’ and ‘Shelde’. Revolution IT was established in 2004 while Shelde, a digital IT security company, was established in 2010 in Australia. Headquartered in Melbourne, Ampion has offices in Sydney, Brisbane along with a zone-3 facility in Canberra.

With the adoption of the cloud, devOps, analytics, and resilience-related digital capabilities by the enterprises and public sector entities, there is a significant disturbance in the Australian market. The combined serving by Wipro and Ampion, supported by engineering transformation, devOps, and security consulting services, will boost the scale & agility in order to respond to the growing demands of the customers.

Wipro aims to focus more on geographies with proximity to customers, agility, scale, and localisation through its new model. The acquisition of Ampion is a crucial step for Wipro towards commitment to clients and stakeholders in Australia & New Zealand (ANZ). Wipro has been serving for over two decades in ANZ with deep client relationships across sectors.

Headquartered in Bengaluru, Wipro Limited is an IT, consulting & business services provider on a global level. The operations are carried out through two segments namely: IT services and IT products.

On Thursday, Wipro’s share was trading at Rs 415.25, which is 0.27 per cent up on BSE.
