The majority of sectoral indices were trading in positive territory, with IT companies driving the uptrend. The recent Nasdaq gain was followed by gains in LTI Mindtree, Mphasis, Infosys, LTTS, Wipro and Tech Mahindra, which were all up about 1 per cent each.
As of 10:15 am, the BSE Sensex is trading at 61,845 levels, gaining 115 points. While the S&P BSE Mid-Cap also increased by 82 points and is trading at a level of 26,234 points. The Small-Cap index too inched up by 33 and is trading at a level of 29,781. The NSE index NIFTY50 improved by 48 points and is trading at a level of 18,252. The Bank Nifty on the other hand is down by 146 points to a level of 43,822 level.
On May 19, the foreign portfolio investors sold securities worth of Rs 113.46 crore and the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were the net buyers of shares worth 1,071.35 crore.
