Watch out for these penny stocks locked in the upper circuit on May 19

S&P BSE Sensex dipped 998 points to 52,223.84 at 10.55 am.

On Thursday, Sensex and Nifty traded down, reflecting sluggish global markets. During the morning session in the Indian markets, banking, financial, IT, pharma, and metal companies weighed the most. As investors' attention switched to inflation risk, it has remained a major headwind for the Indian as well as the global markets.  

  

S&P BSE Sensex dipped 998 points to 52,223.84 at 10.55 am. S&P BSE Midcap index also slipped 435 points and trades at 22,236.31 levels. S&P BSE Smallcap tumbled 404 points and trades at 26,000.90 levels. ITC turned out to be the lone gainer on Sensex. The top-losing stocks include Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Infosys, and TCS.  

  

Nifty 50 index plunged 292 points and is trading at 16,948.25 levels. Bank Nifty also declined by 570 points to the level of 33,593.45. The Top Gainers on Nifty 50 are ITC and Eicher Motors. On the other hand, the top losing stocks are Tech Mahindra, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Infosys, and HDFC Life Insurance.  

     

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 1,294.64 crore on May 18 while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 375.61 crore.
