On Wednesday, Indian shares fell on weaker global cues, as markets remained cautious, ahead of the US Federal Reserve's rate announcement later in the day. After Go First declared bankruptcy on Tuesday, individual stocks including Bombay Burmah Ltd and Bombay Dyeing fell between 2 per cent and 6 per cent. In contrast, IndiGo airline operator Interglobe Aviation Ltd rose over 7 per cent.
As of 10:15 am, the BSE Sensex is trading at 61,163 levels, falling by 191 points. While the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index on the flip side is trading at a level of 25,768 points surging by 87 points. The Small-Cap index also is trading higher at a level of 29,211 climbing 110 points. The NSE index NIFTY50 dropped by 63 points and is trading at a level of 18,084. The Bank Nifty likewise plunged by 172 points and is currently trading at a level of 43,179.
On May 02, the foreign portfolio investors bought securities worth of Rs 1,997.35 crore and the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were the net sellers of shares worth Rs 394.05 crore.
