Watch out for these penny stocks locked in the upper circuit on July 14

BSE Sensex ended the losing streak by opening on a positive note today, up by 211 points at the 53,725 level at 10.27 am.

Following the upward trend in the Asian stocks, the major equity indices are currently trading with decent gains. The shares of healthcare, pharmaceutical, and FMCG companies rose while those of PSU banks, IT, and metal stocks fell.  

The shares of Hindustan Zinc rallied 5.68 per cent after the company’s board of directors approved an interim dividend of Rs 21 per equity share i.e. 1,050 per cent on the face value of Rs 2 per share. The shares of Monte Carlo Fashions extended gains to a second straight session on Thursday after the clothing & textiles company clocked record sales in the April-June period, backed by easing cotton prices and strong store addition. The shares gained 5 per cent in today's trading session reaching Rs 824 per share price.  

BSE Sensex ended the losing streak by opening on a positive note today, up by 211 points at the 53,725 level at 10.27 am. BSE Midcap index also jumped 36 points and trades at 22,790 levels. Likewise, BSE Smallcap rose by 44 points and trades at 25,835 levels. Sensex Top Gainers include Sun Pharmaceutical (1.81 per cent), Dr Reddy’s Laboratories (1.43 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (1.32 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.16 per cent), and Nestle India (0.81 per cent).   

Similarly, Nifty index has increased by 57 points and trades at 16,023 levels. Bank Nifty too climbed 24 points only to trade at 34,852 levels. The top gaining indices on the Nifty are pharmaceuticals and healthcare gaining more than 1.3 per cent each. On the other hand, IT, metal, PSU banks, and realty are trading in the red.  

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 2,839.52 crore on July 13 while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 1,799.22 crore.
