Hindustan Unilever increased by 2.85 per cent. The FMCG giant recorded an increase in standalone net profit of 8.59 per cent. Biocon, Coromandel International, IIFL Finance, IndiaMART InterMESH, Laurus Labs, Motilal Oswal Financial Services, Mphasis, PNB Housing Finance, Shoppers Stop, Shriram Transport Finance Company, Sterlite Technologies, Varun Beverages, and Vedanta will also release their financial results today. Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), Viacom18, and Bodhi Tree Systems have formed a strategic alliance to build one of India's major TV & digital streaming firms. After the refining business reported a 329 per cent increase in the net profit to Rs 994.42 crore, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (CCPL) struck a 10 per cent upper circuit at Rs 263.35 per share.  

S&P BSE Sensex soared 371 points or 0.65 per cent to 57,190.83 at 11.45 am. S&P BSE Midcap index also jumped 0.14 per cent or 27 points and trades at 24,441.43 levels. Similarly, S&P BSE Smallcap index slipped 58 points or 0.20 per cent and trades at 28,683.68 levels. Sensex Top Gainers include Hindustan Unilever (3.93 per cent), Asian Paints (2.60 per cent), Larsen & Toubro (1.66 per cent), Infosys (1.66 per cent), and Reliance Industries (1.65 per cent).  

Nifty 50 index was trading at 17,144.60, surging 106 points or 0.62 per cent. The top gainers on Nifty 50 are Asian Paints (2.62 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (3.90 per cent), UPL (2.31 per cent), HDFC Life Insurance (2.23 per cent), and Larsen & Toubro (2 per cent).  

The foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 4,064.54 crore on April 27 while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 1,917.51 crore.
