On Friday, Indian shares saw a slight increase in trading but investors were being careful due to HCLTechnologies weak revenue outlook and the upcoming quarterly earnings report from Reliance Industries, the country's top firm by market capitalization. HCLTechnologies did see a rise in net profit for the March quarter and a 3.52 per cent increase in its stock. However, concerns remained about the IT sector due to HCL Technologies lower-than-anticipated revenue growth forecast for FY2024.
Investors were also waiting for Reliance's Quarterly Results, which were expected after the market closed on Friday. Cyient Ltd individual stock saw a significant surge of over 9 per cent following a 48 per cent revenue increase in the March quarter based on a strong deal pipeline.
As of 10:51 am, the BSE Sensex is trading at 59,557 levels, falling by 75 points. While the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index is trading with a loss of 104 points at a level of 24,830 points. The Small-Cap index is trading higher currently at the level of 28,220, losing 89 points. The NSE index NIFTY50 likewise dropped by 27 points to 17,597 levels but the Bank Nifty plunged by 50 points and is currently trading at a level of 42,218.
On April 19, the foreign portfolio investors sold securities worth of Rs 1,169.32 crore and the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were the net buyers of shares worth 832.72 crore.
