VA Tech Wabag secures Clean Ganga order of Rs. 575 crore

The water management company bagged a Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) order from the Namami Gange mission. The project is worth Rs. 575 crore for the design and operation of a sewage treatment facility in Kolkata.

Under the National Mission For Clean Ganga (NMCG) or Namami Gange Project, VA Tech Wabag has been awarded a ham order to design, build, rehabilitate and operate sewage treatment plant and other infrastructure in Kolkata, West Bengal. This Public Private Partnership (PPP) project has a tenure of 24 months and includes 15-year period of operation and maintenance contract. 

The project will be built for the Kolkata Municipal Development Authority and will be funded for by NMCG. The scope of the order includes engineering, supply and construction of new STP, renovation and upgradation of existing STP, rehabilitation of pumping stations and associated infrastructure.

The company will build the plants using bio-sludge in-line with the green power vision. These plants will help reduce untreated sewage discharge into the River Ganga from the state of West Bengal.

Meanwhile, at 11:40 hours, the stock of VA Tech Wabag was trading at Rs. 327.90 per share, up by 0.52 per cent on BSE, while the benchmark index was taking a breather at 36,694.59, down 30.83 points on Friday.
