Uflex arm bags US patent for BOPET film
The company's film manufacturing subsidiary FlexFilms was granted a patent for its entire range of Formable Films that have layers of BOPET used in the Alu Alu variety of blister packaging in the US market.
The patent is issued to US-based Flex Films Incorporated for 20 years. This patent will provide Uflex with a competitive advantage over its opponents in the cold-formed pharma packaging segment. Through this patent, the company bags exclusive right for manufacturing and sale of BOPET film in the US, Europe and Indian markets.
This unique packaging process eliminated the need for carcinogenic PVC and BOPA used in Alu- Alu laminate blister packaging. The features of BOPET film include compatibility with different types of inks used for printing information on blister packs and also help the pharma company evade counterfeiting.
Reacting to the development, the stock of Uflex Limited was buzzing during the morning trading session on Tuesday. The stock was quoting Rs. 294.75, up by Rs. 16.00 or 5.74 per cent at 10:37 hours, when the benchmark index BSE Sensex was in the red zone at 36,105, down by 135 points.
